Layla Rodney lives in Toronto, Canada, 6000 miles away from Israel. Despite the distance, she knew that she wanted to do something special to support Leket Israel in honor of her Bat Mitzvah. Layla decided to combine her love of dance with her passion for Leket Israel by hosting a dance-a-thon.  The celebration was held at a local Toronto synagogue, Beth Torah, whose rabbi, Yossi Sapirman, is a Leket Israel Canadian board member. Layla also collaborated with The Manna Project, a local nonprofit, with support from Jenn Ferman and Gillian Sinclair. Through this partnership, guests prepared food for the underprivileged in the local Toronto community.<\/p>

Layla created a personalized fundraising page through Leket Israel to share details of her project and her desire to help those less fortunate. Layla more than doubled her original fundraising goal for Leket Israel and raised over $7,000 to provide 14,000 people in need with a hot meal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI chose to do a Bat Mitzvah project involving Leket because I strongly believe in giving back to the community in Israel. I wanted to do something that involved both my friends and family,\u201d Layla remarked. \u201cThis experience was very meaningful for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

 On the over 100 people came to celebrate  night of the event, Layla, dance, and support Leket Israel and The Manna Project. Leket Israel\u2019s own Ray MacDonald welcomed the group, and Magen Boys Entertainment kept the music playing.<\/p>\n

Thank you to Layla and her family for their tremendous generosity and creativity in supporting Leket and raising money to enable the rescue of fresh nutritious food to be delivered to those in need.<\/p>\n
